Apple asks users to immediately update iOS to 17.1.2 because there is a data theft bug
Gadget AppBisnis.comSOLO – Apple released its latest iOS update, iOS 17.1.2, which is claimed to update dangerous bugs (problems).
In its release, this operating system update was carried out because there was a bug problem “WebKit Bugzilla: 265041” and “WebKit Bugzilla: 265067” originating from Safari.
Even though it has appeared and been exploited since iOS 16.7.1, Apple has only released an update now.
They also said that the bug “WebKit Bugzilla: 265041” could be a loophole in cases of theft of sensitive data through content accessed in Safari.
Meanwhile, the bug “WebKit Bugzilla: 265067” could allow someone to access malicious code.
The way to update iOS is via the Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install menu.
However, not all iPhone phones get this update, Apple limits iOS 17.1.2 to only models
iPhone XS and above.
iOS 17 has lots of problems (bugs)
For your information, not many iPhone users have switched to the iOS 17 operating system which was released on September 18 2023.
Quoted from a Mixpanel report via Phone Arena, the popularity of iOS 17 tends to grow slowly.
After 18 days of release, iOS 17 has only been used on 23 percent of iPhone phones. In detail, 12.13 percent use iOS 17.0.2, 6.84 percent use iOS 17.0.3, 2 percent use standard iOS 17, and less than 2 percent use iOS 17.0.1.
This number is far less than iOS 16 which is used by almost 45 percent of iPhone users. The two most popular series of iOS 16 are iOS 16.6.1 and iOS 16.7.
The growth of iOS 17 was also not as fast as iOS 16 when it was launched. Previously, in the same period (18 days after release), iOS 16 was used by 29 percent of users.
However, it took the next four months to increase the number of iOS 16 users to 70 percent.
The low popularity of iOS 17 is allegedly due to system bugs that are still often found.
One of the most discussed bugs is overheating on the iPhone 15 due to the use of iOS 17. This is also the reason why Apple hastily launched the iOS 17.0.1 to iOS 17.0.3 update.
In fact, iOS 17 offers various updates for iPhone users. For example, the Stand By Mode, Name Drop and offline map features were not found on iOS before.
However, this data shows that iPhone users want to wait for iOS 17 to be more stable before adopting it to their phones.
